The trick: double, then add a zero

20 × n is 2 × n with a zero: 20 × 7 = 140. Every answer ends in 0, and the tens digits are the 2 times table.

Patterns in the 20s

Every answer ends in 0.

The 20 times table is the 10 times table plus the 10 times table, row by row: 20 × 6 = 10 × 6 + 10 × 6 = 60 + 60 = 120.

Each answer is 20 more than the one before, so if you know 20 × 6 = 120, then 20 × 7 is 120 + 20 = 140.
