The trick: double it
Multiplying by 2 is doubling: 2 × 8 is 8 + 8 = 16. Every answer is even.
Patterns in the 2s
The last digits repeat a short cycle — 2, 4, 6, 8, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 0 — so every answer ends in one of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.
Each answer is 2 more than the one before, so if you know 2 × 6 = 12, then 2 × 7 is 12 + 2 = 14.
The facts people miss
These are usually the slowest of the 2s to recall. Learn them first:
- 2 × 7 = 14
- 2 × 8 = 16
- 2 × 9 = 18
