Numpad typing test

Short answer: a numpad typing test measures how fast and accurately you type numbers on the numeric keypad, in keys per second rather than words per minute. R3CK0N's Zen mode is a free one: type random five-digit numbers, get your keys per second, accuracy and consistency, and keep every run. Most typing tests measure words. If your job or hobby is numbers — data entry, accounting, spreadsheets, speedcubing timers — the keys that matter are the ten on the right of your keyboard.

How the test works

R3CK0N's Zen mode shows you random five-digit strings. Type each one; it commits the moment it's full, and the next appears. There's no Enter to press, so every keystroke you make is a digit.

Mistakes can be fixed: Backspace deletes the last digit, and pressing it again on an empty string steps back into the previous one. The - key does the same thing, so your hand never has to leave the numpad.

What gets measured

StatMeaning
KPSKeys per second — raw digit-typing speed
SPMStrings per minute — completed five-digit strings each minute
AccuracyShare of digits typed correctly
ConsistencyHow even your pace is across the strings in a run, 0–100 (higher is steadier)

Keys per hour (KPH), the unit data-entry employers often quote, is simply KPS × 3,600.
