R3CK0N

A Zetamac alternative

Short answer: R3CK0N is a free alternative to the Zetamac arithmetic game. It keeps the thing that makes Zetamac useful — a fast, timed, mixed-operation sprint — and adds what Zetamac leaves out: timing for every problem, a history of your scores, and drills that target the exact facts slowing you down.

Zetamac is excellent at what it does, and its simplicity is a feature: it loads instantly and does one thing. If all you need is a two-minute sprint, it's hard to beat. R3CK0N is for when you want to know why your score is stuck.

Why per-problem timing matters

A sprint score tells you how many you got. It doesn't tell you that you lose four seconds every time 7 × 8 or 13 + 89 comes up. R3CK0N times every answer, so the slow facts stand out — and then you can drill just those, for example with the 7 times table drill, instead of rerunning the whole sprint.

Using both

Many people preparing for trading interviews use Zetamac for the daily score and something with more detail for targeted practice. If your test is longer than two minutes, try the 80 in 8 practice test as well: holding pace for eight minutes is a different skill from a two-minute burst.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Zetamac alternative?

R3CK0N is a free alternative that keeps the timed mixed-arithmetic sprint and adds per-problem timing, a saved history, drills for specific techniques, a daily challenge and head-to-head duels. Use whichever matches the test you are preparing for.

Is R3CK0N harder than Zetamac?

Sprint mode uses the same default ranges as Zetamac (2–100 for addition, 2–12 × 2–100 for multiplication, subtraction and division as those in reverse), so the two scores line up. Zetamac also lets you type any ranges you like; R3CK0N has four fixed levels and a custom blend instead, so its scores always compare with everyone else's.

Do I need an account?

No. R3CK0N works without an account; signing in only syncs your history across devices.
